R+Co. The light in a pandemic for ferro salon

It has arrived. R+Co. Sitting pretty atop the shelves of Ferro Salon. Colorful bottles and creative designs, which seem to brighten and energize an otherwise quiet foyer thanks to a global pandemic.

     R+Co very obviously shakes a monochromatic conformity, in other product lines, I find to be stale and lackluster in their introductory presentation. A very welcomed addition to the entrance of Ferro Salon.

     In the interest of transparency, I write this as a fan, NOT as a brand ambassador. I am not getting paid to advertise by R+Co nor am I getting paid by Ferro Salon for this entry.

     I do make a commission off my retail sales, but even hundreds of dollars of shampoo will award me a Subway sandwich. On a good week, I get a bag chips too lol. Needless to say, the only gain from this blog, is your peaked interest in a brand I adore.

     So what is R+Co? It’s a newish product line, launched in 2014, with a very specific mission; to create a product line by hairdressers, for hairdressers with the client in mind. Major points of interest - all products are:

   *Vegan

 *Cruelty-free

   * Gluten-free

   * Color-safe

   * Heat-safe

   *No Parabens, Sulfates, Mineral Oil, or Petrolatum.

   The list above, before even using the products, had already gained some serious points with me. Many of which are some of the first questions I am asked, by my clientele, when using products on their head.

     There is a crucial level of trust clients give when allowing their hairdresser to just start spraying random things on them. I have a duty and a responsibility to use what I feel to be quality product. Juxtaposed to many product lines, all of R+Co meets my requirements and expectations.

     Now, with the important but boring stuff out of the way... R+Co is just SO DAMN FUN!!! I don’t mean to knock or demean other product lines but for creative hairdressing there is a wow factor missing in other brands. R+Co has something for every occasion, style, look, and need.

     Maybe it’s been a few days since your last shampoo, you dirty girl you, well - there are four dry shampoos to choose from! All meant for different reasons and different hair types.

     Maybe you need a really pretty and smooth blow-out? Or, perhaps you want to take said blow-out, and make it a bit more fun and feisty. Dare I say... slutty? Lol. Well, you’ll have numerous product avenues to achieve many different “moments”.

     The shampoos and conditioners are wonderful... I’ll be honest, how excited can one really be in the shower? Especially in DC when shampooing at home for most is a chore. My clients require quick and effective! But, we all do recognize when we use a product we don’t like. R+Co has consistently kept even the most “bougie” types very happy.

     R+Co also has a very sweet price point. Other product lines can be significantly higher. Some of which I understand the cost and even endorse the use. However let’s all be fair, some clients need a line that is much more prescriptive with tresses that need  attention that I don’t believe R+Co was really designed to handle. Subsequently, there is an up-charge for high maintenance hair.

     In contrast, some lines are a fortune just to be a fortune. Some clients feel better buying products that are just more expensive. Must be nice.

     My favorite part of R+Co, is the line’s ability to bridge the gender gap. There are SO MANY product lines that are specific to gender and it’s such a shame. Look I get it, women spend a lot more than men on beauty products.

     That is evident when you walk into a store like Sephora. Men have half a shelf next to the “employees only” sign at the back of the store and women get the whole damn thing. Females are where the money is at and brands know this.

     Insert R+Co! Unisex!! It’s like the Ck One of hair products. Universal smell and usage. My guy clients finally feel a part of the party as opposed to feeling like I’m just using what’s available that smells of gardenia and patchouli. A product used in haste meant for Audrey Hepburn, not David Beckham.

     If you feel bored with your style, try R+Co.

     If you want a fun and fresh smell profile, try R+Co.

     If you want to play with new “toys”, try R+Co.

     If you want something gentle, try R+Co.

     Or, if you want a product line that doesn’t torture animals for commercial gain, try R+Co.

Happy Styling.
